BC plays Notre Dame this weekend for the last time (or at least for a while, as the contract runs out after this season; there are talks to resume the series perhaps in 2014 or later, but nothing has been signed). UPDATE: THIS IS WRONG. THERE IS ONE MORE GAME BETWEEN BC AND ND IN 2010, WHICH WIL BE AT BC. IT’S THE LAST GAME AT ND. SORRY FOR THE MISINFORMATION AND STUPIDITY.
Sure, this game isn’t that important to BC in the sense that we can lose this nonconference game and still make it to the ACC Championship game (since the goal is winning the ACC championship and making a BCS bowl), but I’m always excited when we play ND, probably because I hate them. I also know lots of casual fans will be watching this game and that a 7th straight win over ND (yes, you read that correctly) would give the program some positive publicity, so I’d love to see us knock off the favored Irish once again. Of course, these games make me recall the 1993 BC-ND game when BC knocked off the No. 1 Irish, the best football game I’ve ever witnessed in person (or on TV), and it reminds me of one of the best weekends of my time at BC, when we chartered a bus with 50 other students out to South Bend to see that game.
